Eye Surgery is Complete!
Sorry ithas been so long since I updated my page but I have been busy with my neweyelids. As you know, surgery was at the end of May and I left there witha lot more than I expected. Dr. Gwin sewed on what looked like pieces ofrubber bands to my eyelids! It was very strange looking and a bituncomfortable (but much better that before surgery). He said that theywere there to help "stretch" the tissue I had to help me have what Ineeded to close my eyes all the way. Sounded cool to me. Here is a picture of me with the "bands": When I went back in to have the bands removed a few days ago I was the purrfect gentleman. Dr Guin is my hero... I just sat there nice and calm while he removed my silly rubber things. Now I am just getting used to my new lids and awaiting my next surgery. It seems that I am also what is called "cryptorchid" (which means my testicles have not descended) and they need to "go in" and find them. Right now, since I am a male "tom", I tend to smell just a bit "wild". This next surgery will help me take care of that issue too. Lucky for me (pun intended) your generous donations are going to cover that surgery too. I can't tell you how much I appreciate all of my donors. Stay tuned for a picture of my new lids, we'll take some this afternoon and THANKS AGAIN!
Results of Seeing Dr Gwin
I went to see the doc today and he looked deep into my eyes... He used a couple of different strange looking pieces of equipment, he turned the room lights out and shined a bright light in each of my eyes a couple of times (I am not sure what he was looking for, they had already told him my eyelids were missing!). He dabbed a piece of paper into the corners of my eyes and pulled my eyes WIDE open and looked real hard at me and then he said.... he could make my condition much better! I am so happy!

Surgery is scheduled for May 26th, just a week from Thursday and I can't wait. Then there is one more follow-up visit with him at the end of May. Wouldn't it be wonderful if I could be part of a new family by the 4th of July?

P.S. He also told my foster mom that she "had a great cat there"... I was so proud!

Appointment with the Doc!
PAWS has made me an appointment with the veterinarian specialist to look at my eyes! They'll hopefully decide what the best possible procedure will be at that time. He didn't have an opening until Tuesday, the 17th but I've waited this long so what's a few more days? This is so exciting!
I Had a Great Time at the Cat Show
Hi! Lucky here again. I wanted to let you all know that my "personal appearance" at the ThunderKatz Cat Show last weekend went great. Not only did I raise $144 in donations, but I got to spend two whole days at the show lounging around and watching the "babes"! It was exciting to see so many beautiful felines all in one place. They were all "gussied up" for their time with the judges, with fur brushed and shiny (unless, of course, they were one of those captivating, exotic hairless cats), their nails were buffed and pretty and they were spritzed and smelling good. Of course they didn't give me a second look but I bet, once I get my new "lids", they won't be able to keep their eyes off ME! I also met some wonderful people and made a very special new friend, Shauna. See our picture? I also heard this morning that we are almost at our goal for the surgery fund. I am very excited (and a little scared too) that I'll be getting my new eyelids earlier than planned. Thanks again to all you wonderful donors out there. I can't wait!
I'm Making a Personal Appearance this Weekend!
I am sooo excited! I just heard that I will be making a personal appearance at the ThunderKatz Cat Show this weekend at the Oklahoma City Fairgrounds! PAWS-OK will have a booth in the vendor area there with the All Hours Animal Hospital and Emergency Center (AHAHEC), which are the nice people who are taking care of me and I am going to be one of their feature attractions. I am staying at the hospital while I wait on my surgery because I need constant attention to my eyes and they have done a WONDERFUL job making me comfortable. So drop into the show and come see me... I LOVE meeting new people! I'll be there 9-4 on both Saturday and Sunday. Meow!
Lucky was born without eyelids!
Hi there! My name is Lucky and, contrary to what most people think, I think I am a very lucky cat. I think I'm lucky because I was rescued, not once but twice. The first time was when I was just a couple weeks old (I don't really remember that time very well) when a young girl found me in a drainage ditch after a big storm. The second time was just a few weeks ago when my owner surrendered me to PAWS because she couldn't spend enough time with me. I think that time was really lucky because the PAWS people recognized something about me right away that everyone else had missed - I don't have any eyelids! I didn't even know I was suppose to have them but they did. They explained that my condition, known as "Eyelid Agenesis", was what was causing all the watering and stinging in my eyes. They said it is like having an eyelash stuck in both your eyes all the time. I wouldn't know about that because I don't have eyelashes either.

You can see my video here! http://youtu.be/zAQ-0Rh0TlY

They told me to just be patient though and they would find out what they could do to help me out. They discovered that this "condition" although rare, is not unheard of and that a special operation could be done to give me some eyelids and keep all that hair from above my eyes from rubbing my eyes all the time. It will even allow me to close my eyes all the way when I am sleeping. That would be WONDERFUL! But they need your help because this surgery isn't cheap. That's the reason for this Chip-In. You see, PAWS is a non-profit cat rescue and they survive solely on donations from great people like you. They have found some great homes for over 180 wonderful cats in just 2 years and I hope to be another one of those lucky cats when my eyelids are fixed.

They also wanted me to mention to you that no donation is too small, that every donation is tax deductible and that 100% of your donation will go towards my surgery and aftercare. So could you "chip-in" and help me out? We are hoping to have enough to get the surgery done in July but in my opinion, it can't come soon enough. I guess I've been waiting my whole life for this!

Stay tuned for updates... I'm even thinking of starting a blog so you know what I'm up to while I wait. Thanks for reading my story. Can you pass this along to all your friends?
